Take a Word - #33 Insects

Have managed to be late again...well, my excuse is I had a little hospital dalliance so my knee would bend.  In other words, the doctor cranked the heck out of it (while I was blissfully sedated) and now I can make a full rotation on the bike!  Yippeeee!  If I thought I wouldn't screw up the knee, I do think I'd do the happy dance!  Well enough of that!  Insects, eh?  I immediately thought of our stink bug invasion and shivered...little monsters have no predators here, they aren't cute like the little fellow on Miss Spider's Sunny Patch, they are noisy, clever little beasts that hide in any little crack or crevice.  So...if it's not a butterfly, I don't want to talk about it.  So guess what I made?  Right!  A butterfly!  I painted and spattered, did some faux encaustic, glued, cut and something else I can't remember right now...but here's my insect!

Lynn, your butterfly is gorgeous. I thought about making something with butterflies too, but it seems that I've been using butterflies every day, especially on some of the tags I've been making. Please keep those stink bugs north of Fredericksburg. I hope they don't make it down to the James.

I liked the pale tones and low contrast in your picture. It resulted quite elegant.

Hi Lynn, your artpiece here is exquisite. I love the soft, muted colours and painterly look of it. I would have loved to see it in a larger size but when I click on it nothing happens (I'm sure I have enlarged your pics before). Ah well. The small version is gorgeous anyway.
