Three Muses - Hats

How long has it been since you wore a hat? I can remember going to the Loop in Chicago to a shop in a large building on Madison Ave. and picking out my Easter hat with my mom and aunt. My aunt was the "dresser" of the family...some of her concoctions were the absolute perfection of confections. Feathers, ribbons and pearls, colors divine, veils and frills. She couldn't be outdone as she sashayed her way up the aisle in church. Everyone simply had to notice! So, here's my "tip of the hat" to the lovely theme of HATS! Hats off to all you great artists who bother to take a peek...

Edgar Allen Poe at G.A.

Nevermore....well, here's my tip of the hat to Poe and Gothic Arches. I approached the subject from his Muse...wife (and cousin) Virginia. She died of consumption when she was only 24. It's felt that she was the muse for some of his dark writings. Thanks for looking!

Three Muses - Art in the Round

I missed participating last week, so I really wanted to get my piece done no matter what! I cut out a circle, sprayed it with walnut ink. Then I took a coffee filter and dabbed Apple Spice Luminarte over it. Then I used my new Paperbag stamps and used my new oil pastel crayons (takes some getting used to...) So, here's my round art - Sweet!

SPA - Bingo

Bingo - I think I grew up on Bingo and Bunco, although I don't hear too much about the latter anymore. When I think of the smokey church halls, Moose Lodges and school cafeterias I sat in with my aunt and grandmother when I was a kid, it's a wonder second hand smoke didn't do me in! But it was fun, in a way, to see the friendships in those halls. I haven't played bingo in a very long time (the last time was an all nighter on New Years Eve - what an active social life! - and a very fluffy pillow!!!) Creating something about bingo was so much fun! Thanks for the memories!

Theme Thursday 4x4

I haven't been creating much. I have fibromyalgia -I'm sure there are a few out there reading this who share this...condition...with me. In Chinese medicine, having fibro means you have wind in your body. Wind, pain, fog...I really get mad when it hits this hard, I have to struggle through my day, but worst of all, it truly interferes with making art. At least I finished this piece. And now, I'll try to rest as my body says I'd better...and hope that tomorrow is a better art day! Sweet dreams!
